On June 27, U.S. President Donald Trump abruptly ended trade negotiations with Canada after Ottawa confirmed it would implement digital services tax on major tech firms.
Trump posted on Truth Social and labeled the move a “clear attack” on American companies and claimed he would seek to impose retaliatory tariffs.
Canada defended the tax saying it was fair and within international norms.
Stock markets responded to this news relatively quickly, with the U.S. dollar rising.
