Police horses have became involved in an “extensive” search for a four-year-old boy from the Mid North of South Australia who has not been seen since 5:00pm on Saturday. His family home is 70 kilometres south of Yunta, where he disappeared. August, nicknamed Gus, has been described by police as white with curly blonde hair, and was wearing a grey hat, a blue Minion shirt, light grey shorts, and boots.

Searches were completed by police throughout the surrounding area on Saturday evening, with no results, so further searches throughout a 2.5 kilometre radius were enacted, but August was still not found. Gus was reportedly playing in the sand in his backyard before he disappeared, and is believed to have walked further outside before getting lost. He has been described as “quiet” but “adventurous.” August’s grandmother had gone outside looking for him but could not locate him and she and his family searched around the area before alerting authorities.

Police are working with August’s family and have used their knowledge of the property and the knowledge of neighbours to help with their investigation. They are highly concerned about the circumstances but are “still hopeful,” though have expressed their belief that “time is of the essence.” Premier of South Australia, Peter Malinauskas, stated that the event was “probably one of the most terrifying circumstances that any parent or guardian could contemplate.”
