Kolkata, India — November 2025 — South Kolkata-based dance school Mermaid Film Academy has recently received two national-level awards for its contribution to performing arts education and youth cultural participation in the city.
The academy, founded in 2017 and located in the Bansdroni area of South Kolkata, trains students in Western, Bollywood and Indian classical dance styles. Its students regularly participate in staged cultural programs and community events.
In July 2023, the school was awarded the Best Dance Institute of the Year at the Excellency Iconic Awards, held in Dehradun. It also received the Best Dance School of the Year at the Business Excellence Awards in Kolkata in the same year.
In May 2025, Mermaid Film Academy hosted its Annual Event 2025 at Jai Hind Auditorium in Garia, featuring group and solo performances across a wide range of dance genres. The event included choreography performed by children, teenagers and adults, emphasizing stage exposure and confidence-building.
