A major fire broke out this evening at the Revolver Hotel on Virginia Street in Glasgow city centre.

Emergency services were alerted around 6:20pm on Saturday
The fire is described as “well-developed” and located on the fourth floor of the Revolver Hotel
The Revolver Hotel is located above the Polo Lounge nightclub and has a rooftop terrace with gym, hot tub and sauna facilities
Images and videos on social media show flames pouring from the roof of the building

Eleven fire appliances are attending the scene.
Seven fire engines and two high-reach appliances have been mobilized to the Merchant City area.
Firefighters are using aerial ladders to tackle the blaze.

Trades Hall, House of Gods Hotel, Spires Serviced Suites, and Homeless Project Scotland have been evacuated as a precaution.
Glassford Street has been closed to all traffic between Ingram Street and Trongate.
Wilson Street has also been closed to road users and pedestrians.

There are no reports of any injuries.

The situation is ongoing, with emergency services still working to bring the fire under control.
