Karem Tadros, a USA resident and entrepreneur, clarified details regarding his interaction with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) following his release in 2009. Tadros, who runs Wegovy Alternative, emphasized that he has never been on any ICE supervision since that release.
According to Tadros, a miscommunication occurred between him and his lawyer while signing an affidavit during a lawyer visit in Elizabeth Detention Center. The affidavit indicated that Karem was under ICE supervision since 2009, and he believed the issue had been resolved. During the hearing on June 16, 2025, in Newark, New Jersey, Tadros explained under oath that he has had perfect compliance since 2009, as formal ICE supervision and check-ins never applied to his case.
Tadros remains required to renew his work authorization annually, and he suggested that ICE supervision may have contributed to the earlier miscommunication since signing the affidavit prior to court. Despite providing this clarification, the judge still placed Tadros on ICE supervision until further notice, which he considers preferable to unlawful detention.
Tadros has been an entrepreneur for over a decade and currently serves as the chief executive officer of Wegovy Alternative, a company providing plant-based weight management solutions.
