The Israeli navy stopped boats delivering aid to Gaza and detained the activists on board, among them Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg. Greg Stoker, who is an American veteran traveling on one of the flotilla’s boats, said that about a dozen naval ships with their transponders switched off had approached. Israel’s Foreign Ministry announced that several ships belonging to the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) were “safely intercepted,” and their passengers are being taken to an Israeli port.
