Today, Mark Carney was sworn in as Prime Minister of Canada. He replaces Justin Trudeau after he won a landslide victory in the leadership election for the Liberal Party of Canada.
Harvard and Oxford educated Carney has never held political office before. His experience includes being the heads of the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England.
Carney unveiled a slimmed down cabinet of 24 members, less than the 39 that Trudeau had. He has been sworn in amid the trade war with the United States. He vowed that Canada will never be the “51st state“. Carney is now expected to call a snap election.
