For the first time in history, Justin Bieber has above 50% approval! YouGov, a polling site, updates the approval scores every three months, using survey data collected over the course of the quarter. Yesterday, on New Year’s Day 2025, YouGov updated the scores again for all 3,000+ celebrities in the website’s database. This time, Justin Bieber has an approval rating of 48.7%, setting a new record since YouGov began its polling back in October 2020, surpassing his previous high of 44.5% that he set last April. However, in this update, he has 96.9% fame. Since approval, disapproval, and neutral opinions are a subset of “Fame” (which means the percentage of people who know Justin Bieber), the “Like,” “Dislike,” and “Neutral” scores should actually be divided by the “Fame” score to obtain the effective approval, disapproval, and neutral scores.

= 0.502580

Despite figures being available to three significant figures, these are still rounded figures, so “48.7” can be anywhere between 48.6500 and 48.7500, under one “rounding” method, and between 48.7000 and 48.8000 using the other “rounding” system. Likewise, “96.9” can represent any number between 96.85 and 97.00. Even so, Justin Bieber’s effective approval rating is demonstrably above 50% this time.

Lower bound: = 0.501030

This means that, regardless of which rounding system the site uses, this quarter sees Justin having an approval rating of at least 1,030 parts per million above the 50% line.
