A woman in the Gold Coast, a city in the Australian state of Queensland, has died after being pulled from the ocean at a popular swimming spot in the area while snorkeling. Emergency services were called to Wave Break Island after 10:00AM when the woman was pulled from the water and found to be unresponsive. She was subsequently declared dead.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner. Her death comes just days after another man drowned at Currumbin Beach, also in the Gold Coast. In December 2024, 33 people lost their lives to drowning, and life savers have warned that it is the most dangerous time to be in the water.
