Today, on October 10th of this year, Hulu died.

The cracks began to show when Disney acquired a majority stake in the platform in 2019. While this brought exciting crossovers and bundles with Disney+ and ESPN+, it also signaled a shift in priorities. Hulu’s iconic identity and bundles became overshadowed by Disney’s broader streaming ambitions.

By 2025, the year this article was made, the crack was a wound. Countless rumors swirled around Hulu, predicting that Hulu would be effectively KILLED be Disney+, being absorbed by the platform for their own good. The writing was on the wall: it was all true, and the knife slowly began to raise.

The day of the merger came. Disney started merging Hulu, and some thought Hulu would survive independently. But quickly, Hulu’s library was fully integrated into Disney+, and the brand went kaput for good on October 10, 2025, in the biggest streaming merger in United States history. The content jumped to Disney+, and the platform absorbed the bones.
