The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, has been captured by the United States. Donald Trump told reporters Nicolás Maduro was “in a house that was more like a fortress” with “solid steel all around”, in the country’s capital, Caracas. Donald Trump justified this action by claiming that Nicolás Maduro is the leader of the Cartel de los Soles, and pushing illegal immigration of dangerous individuals in the United States. Nicolás Maduro has said before that Donald Trump’s goal is to get access to Venezuela’s oil reserves.

The NY Times reports airstrikes in Caracas targeting La Carlota, an airbase and fort Tiuna, a military base.
