The United Nations Security Council convened this morning to discuss the evolving situation in Central Africa. A key focus of the meeting was the ongoing efforts to counter the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA), an armed group responsible for over 100,000 deaths according to UN estimates and a long-standing security challenge in the region.
Ambassadors received briefings detailing strategies aimed at enhancing civilian protection, facilitating humanitarian access, and fostering cross-border cooperation. These strategies were presented by the UN Regional Office for Central Africa (UNOCA), highlighting its role in addressing regional security concerns.
